War Without Witness
“War Without Witness is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental group, with grass-root level Human Rights activists in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Government banned access to all humanitarian workers including UN, independent monitors and the media to Vanni, since September 2008 and the combat zone was isolated from the out side world and a war was waged without any witnesses. To gather as much information as is safely possible from the combat zone, we decided to document only the War Crimes committed by the Government of Sri Lanka. This may look like a biased effort. But without such a decision, all evidence on these war crimes would not have been documented. “War Without Witness” gathered as much first hand verified information and it fears that the situation may be far worse than what we realize, due to limited communication, threats posed to journalists & human rights activists and the meagre facilities existing on the ground.”
